Ball Green Primary School is a co-educational community school providing high quality education for pupils aged 3-11 years. The school is situated on Whitfield Road, Ball Green, serving the catchment area of Ball Green and parts of Norton.

The school is situated on a larger than average site which allows the children to have access to a varied outdoor environment, featuring our Woodland Area, a large grassed playing field and a tarmaced playground with a variety of play equipment installed.   The school building comprises of 13 classrooms, cloakroom areas, breakout rooms, cookery room, community room, main assembly/dining hall, reception area and offices, and staffroom.  Within the school grounds is a successful before and after school club which has very close ties to the school.

In foundation Stage we have FS1 and two FS2 classrooms.  Key stage one is currently two form entry mixed ability classes in each year group, and in key stage two there are currently 5 classes, being a mix of single year or mixed age groups.

A great deal of time and effort is spent by our staff to provide the best possible learning environment and experiences for all of our pupils.

We have a unique facility which is an Inclusion Unit for pupils of primary age who may be vulnerable for a variety of reasons including learning and social and emotional needs. OPUS is a purpose built unit which provides a personalised learning experience to meet pupils varying needs. This has been supported by High Needs Funding with the aim to share the provision across the city after twelve months.

We are developing a creative, topic based Learning Challenge Curriculum and we involve the children in the planning.  We are committed to enriching the curriculum – theme days and weeks are a regular feature of school life, as are visits by theatre groups and professional artists and musicians, and visits to places of interest both within and outside the local area.  In addition to this, the commitment of the staff enables us to offer an extensive range of extra-curricular activities.  We also pride ourselves on our sporting achievements, charitable work and our involvement in the local community.

213Our philosophy is that every child should be offered every chance, every day, based upon the belief that all pupils are of equal value, and that each should be offered equal opportunities at school, free from any bias due to an individual’s academic or physical ability, colour of skin, race, religion or gender.

Our school motto is, “Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day” and this can be seen in the positive way children behave towards each other and the warm relationships between staff and pupils. We encourage the children to develop self-discipline and to understand the importance of being good citizens.
