Religious Education

“Differences were meant not to divide  but to enrich ” [J.H. Oldham]

Religious Education teaching and learning at Ball Green allows children to understand the beliefs and practices of the religions and worldviews which not only shape their history and culture but which guide their own development.

We encourage children to think about their own views and values in relation to the themes and topics studied in the Stoke-on-Trent RE Syllabus. Our teaching and learning styles in RE enable children to build on their own experiences and to extend their knowledge and understanding of religious traditions. Through the teachings and celebrations of religious festivals such as Easter, Diwali, Passover, etc. we help children to develop their religious thinking. Here at Ball Green, we organise visits to local places of worship, and invite representatives of local religious groups to come into school and talk to the children.

Our teaching enables children to extend their own sense of values, and promotes their spiritual growth and development so that they can respect the religious and cultural differences of others, and contribute to a unified and compassionate society.
